You're welcome to post a Text-To-Speech (TTS) or AI Voice project on Voice123 as long as you follow our steps that are built to empower voice actors to make informed decisions, weed out bad parties, and provide both voice actors and companies with the best support.
Our updated guidelines for Text-To-Speech (TTS) or AI voice projects will engender more transparency and help build trust with voice actors.
Since these are emerging voice-over categories that will affect the future of voice over, union and non-union partners have indicated that they want to have more clarity on TTS projects moving forward. Understandably, our partners are concerned about the potential for misuse but are also excited about the possibilities this technology can bring.
After reviewing our policy with the help of NAVA and our voice actors, we have developed guidelines to help voice actors make the right choice when working with a TTS or AI voice company.
Voice123 aims to help voice actors make informed decisions, protect them from malicious individuals, and provide companies and voice actors with the best support.
Voice123's expectations:
- 'In perpetuity' TTS or AI Voice projects will not be allowed unless reviewed and cleared by our executive team.
- Only verified corporate email addresses for clients posting TTS or AI Voice projects will be permitted.
- As always, Voice123 proposals and samples remain the sole property of the voice actor and must be appropriately remunerated for their use.
- Voice data can not be used for abusive purposes like fraud, discrimination, hate speech, or online abuse without infringing the law.
- Future sub-licensing and transferable rights in regard to AI projects have to be clear to the voice actor and will need to be included in the project description.
- All payments for TTS projects must be completed through Voice123 Booking and Secure Payment.
- If no bookings are made, you will need to explain why Voice Actors weren't booked before posting again.
- Users and Companies attempting to bypass these rules will face a ban.
Requirements for posting a project:
- Please send Voice123 a copy of your default agreement that you expect to sign with your voice actors so we can include it on file in case of any disputes. Any subsequent projects will be assumed to have a similar contract unless you send a follow-up agreement. If a contract is unavailable, please outline why and disclaim in the project that it is subject to a future agreement.
- Please include AI or TTS in the project's title.
- Please answer the following questions and include them in your project description:
- Is the voice for training data?
- Is the voice going to be replicated?
- Will the voice data be sold or sub-licensed to others?
- What are the purposes of the recording?
- How long will the voice data be used?
- Is there any exclusivity?
- What is your best estimate for the total recording budget for the project, and will there be any royalties?
- Please do not post multiple projects for the same age/gender/language combinations at once. Our Customer Success team can assist with collating multiple tones or characters in the same project.
- Projects and clients that don’t have the above information will not be approved or will require editing before approval to include the information.
- We reserve the right to block any project we believe is not in our voice actors' best interests.
- Review the below image for an example of how this can appear:
If you would like to meet with our team, please schedule a meeting at your preferred time.
We appreciate your cooperation with this, and we look forward to hearing from you.
